The proposed project is a new 100-megawatt solar powered generation station on approximately 1,200 acres in Lee County. The new facilities would increase electricity supply and enhance voltage levels on the surrounding grid, both of which contribute to improved service reliability and availability.
Invenergy, LLC will design and build the solar generation facility, which will be known as the Walnut Bend Solar Project, and which will be purchased by Entergy Arkansas after the project is constructed and certain conditions are met.
The solar panels will feature relatively new technology: bifacial solar panels. Most solar panels generate electricity with photovoltaic cells on only the top side -- the sunny side – of the panels. Bifacial panels have photovoltaic cells on the top and bottom sides of the panel. The ones on the bottom catch sunlight reflected from the ground, increasing the amount of electricity generated per panel.
-Walnut Bend Solar Project will provide approximately 200 jobs during the construction phase.
-Two to three full-time employees once operational.
-The facility will generate an estimated $700,000 in annual property taxes for Lee County.
