The macro-project consists of carrying out a construction dredging, of approximately 5 million m3, to increase the capacity of the port's navigation areas. The navigation channel would go from 150 to 180 m in width and from 8 to 10 km in length, the ciaboga basin would go from 400 to 600 m in diameter, all at a depth of 14 m to achieve an official draft of 12.8 m.
The material product of the dredging will be deposited in a polygon of approximately 40 ha in extension, thereby creating a platform of the same extension to develop within it various specialized terminals that will be incorporated into the macroproject as soon as they are published.
The macro-project includes the construction of specialized terminals for their design, construction, equipment, installation, operation, maintenance and exploitation. It is estimated that in specialized terminals:
- the selection processes will be through international public tenders,
- the contracts will be through partial transfers of rights over 20 years,
- the sources of financing will be through private resources.
Currently the macro-project is in the preparation of the preliminary project and open to feedback from interested parties.
