Phuket Smart City focuses on critical issues for Phuket's long-term viability and growth, such as smart public transport, intelligent traffic light, intelligence metering, intelligent waste management, smart tourism and integrated CCTV solutions are all six key services for implementation.
Phuket, the second biggest destination in Thailand, has been selected as an example for smart city development in Thailand, with a view to improving the quality of life of the local population and the prosperous tourism industry to drive their economy.
This project component included:
(1) Smart Tourism - launching statewide free high-speed WIFI, the Phuket Smart City application, and smart bracelets for tourists;
(2) Public Safety - launching CCTV cameras with data analytics including plate number and facial recognition, as well as a vessel tracking system;
(3) Smart Environment - implementing a waste water management system that uses artificial intelligence; and
