Malaysia East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), a RM50bil strategic infrastructure project envisioned as the backbone for economic development and growth along the east coast of the Malay peninsula. Stretching 665km, it would carry six-car electric train sets that can travel at speeds of up to 160km/h, servicing 20 passenger and freight stations along its route. Its overall alignment was designed to improve connectivity between the west and east coasts of the peninsula while leveraging the potential for tourism, industrial, commercial, and logistical growth along its major corridors.
